Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed concern over alleged election manipulation at collation centres, calling for urgent measures to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
Atiku made the remarks on Tuesday during a meeting with members of the Coalition for Democracy Movement, led by Jibril Shehu Mustapha, where discussions focused on strengthening electoral transparency and nationwide political coordination.
In a post on X, the former presidential candidate revealed that the group outlined its nationwide structure and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts aimed at ensuring credible elections and protecting votes.
He commended the coalition for its consistency and dedication, expressing appreciation for its support while assuring members that their contributions would not go unrecognized.
Atiku stressed that their role would remain significant in the broader push to uphold democratic principles, warning that concerns about manipulation particularly at collation centres must be addressed with effective countermeasures.
He wrote: “This afternoon, I met with the Coalition for Democracy Movement, led by Dr. Jibril Shehu Mustapha, who outlined their nationwide structure and commitment to supporting our cause, especially as it’s the move credible and also protecting the votes.
“I highlighted growing concerns about election manipulation, especially at collation centres, and stressed the need for effective countermeasures, while expressing gratitude for their support and commending their consistency.
“I assured them that their sacrifices will not be forgotten, and that history will remember their role in defending democracy. -AA
