The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 12 parcels of cocaine cleverly hidden inside food flasks meant for export to the United Kingdom from Lagos.
According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the drugs — weighing 2.80kg — were discovered at the export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport before they could be shipped via a Virgin Atlantic flight.
Two cargo agents were arrested on the spot, while the sender was later apprehended in a follow-up operation.
In a separate operation, NDLEA operatives also intercepted 2.90kg of “Loud,” a potent strain of cannabis, hidden in snack packs arriving from the US.
Three suspects, including a Lagos-based fashion designer, were arrested in connection with the shipment.
The agency further disclosed that additional seizures of illicit drugs were made across multiple states, leading to more arrests, as it continues its nationwide crackdown and awareness campaign against drug abuse.
