Soliu Oyesiji, April 19, 2026April 19, 2026

Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has welcomed former governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, into the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as a significant boost to the party’s influence in the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, the governor said Shekarau’s return signals growing momentum and consolidation within the party in Kano.

Yusuf disclosed that arrangements were underway, in collaboration with the party’s national leadership, to fix a date for the formal reception of the former governor into the APC.

He noted that the party continues to attract widespread support across the state, positioning itself as a dominant political force ahead of future elections.

According to him, the APC is well-positioned to secure victory in all elective positions, attributing the party’s confidence to increasing unity and strategic political alignments.

The governor assured members and supporters that efforts were ongoing to strengthen internal cohesion while expanding the party’s grassroots presence.

He also urged party loyalists to remain committed and intensify mobilisation as preparations for upcoming political contests gather pace.
